October 23, 2007

Dear District Attorney Early,

October 10, 2007 I sent you written notification of my request for a copy of the taped interview of October 2, 2007 between your C-Pac State Police Trooper David A. Cravedi, and Trooper Patrick McStay and myself concerning the current criminal charges regarding Fr John Szantyr.

Please allow me to remind you I solely cooperated with this interview in good faith based on the fact numerous witness had come forward to the Worcester Voice in regards to the current prosecution of former Worcester diocese priest, John Szantyr.  You clearly stated on September 21, 2007 in a phone conversation “you had something in mind” regarding holding John Szantyr accountable for what many believe has been the presentation of false information to the court regarding his actual mental competency.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007 after calling Jennifer your Para -legal for the second time requesting if I could ascertain a copy of the October 2 interview. You called me back several minutes after my second call and we agreed you would provide me with a copy of my interview which you claimed you only had in CD version. I agreed not to disseminate the interview to any sources.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 5:13pm Trooper Dan Richard called my home and left a message with my son to return his call. Trooper Richard than called again a short time later and informed me Trooper David A. Cravedi would be at the Leominster State Police barracks and I could pick up a copy of my interview.

I arrived at the barracks and was met by both Trooper Dan Richard and Trooper David A. Cravedi. Trooper Cravedi handed me a CD which was labeled Mary T. Jean interview.

Upon review of this CD it has been determined that a complete version of my interview with Trooper David A. Cravedi and Trooper Patrick McStay is not contained on the CD provided.  In fact the portion I brought to your attention concerning being questioned in regards to my Federal case (Mary T. Jean V Massachusetts State Police) is missing altogether from the interview.

A Blackberry page received by both Troopers is recorded at approximately 13:52 minutes into the interview. My comment is recorded regarding both Troopers receiving the transmission, than after a minute or two, voice recognition software records a break in recording as voice and audio sound waves discontinue. The questioning should begin with Trooper Cravedi asking me do I maintain any other web sites. To which I replied Conte2006.com.

The CD continues without any questions regarding the Conte2006.com web site. In additions the CD also ends when the Amicus brief is being discussed which was not the conclusion of the interview. In fact the interview ended with Trooper Cravedi stating the exact time the interview concluded.

As stated before permission for the use of this interview was for the Worcester District Attorney’s Office only in regards to prosecution of John Szantyr and may not be divulged in audio or written forum to any other Massachusetts Governmental agency or Office without my express written permission.

I will follow this fax up with a phone call so they can be no misunderstanding regarding the missing and incomplete version of my interview your office provided to me.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

Mary T. Jean

October 10, 2007

Dear District Attorney Early,

Please accept this as my written request in addition to my oral request to be provided a copy of the tape recorded interview conducted by your C-Pac, State Police Trooper David A. Cravedi, and Trooper Patrick McStay on October 2, 2007 at 10am in the Leominster State Police Barracks. According to Trooper Cravedi he conducted the interview based on your instructions and this tape was going to be provided to your office.

I solely cooperated with this interview in good faith based on the fact numerous witness had come forward to the Worcester Voice in regards to the current prosecution of former Worcester diocese priest, John Szantyr.  You clearly stated on September 21, 2007 in a phone conversation “you had something in mind” regarding holding John Szantyr accountable for what many believe has been the presentation of false information to the court regarding his actual mental competency.

As you are aware documented evidence in the form of photos and reports as well as several eyewitness have come forward regarding John Szantyr still being active in the community as well as still presenting himself as a Catholic priest before and after the September 12, 2006 competency hearing. Due to the fact on numerous occasion Assistant District Attorney Joseph Reilly III failed to return calls and or seek out the evidence brought to his attention many have felt the need to contact the Worcester Voice to seek assistance.

Permission for the use of this interview was for the Worcester District Attorney’s Office only in regards to prosecution of John Szantyr and may not be divulged in audio or written forum to any other Massachusetts Governmental agency or Office without my express written permission.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

Mary T. Jean
